The old base was pure #000000 and it is replaced. Two reasons, both of which only appear once photography leads: pure black under a full-bleed image produces a hard seam at every image edge, and a cool neutral sits with flag blue where a warm one fights it. These nine are drawn at their literal values so this card reads the same in either mode — every other card on this site is live. §2.2.
